Thinking about next year? Don’t forget to plan your transition to Teams from Skype for Business

It’s not an overstatement to say most of us are ready to say goodbye to 2020 and give a warm welcome to 2021.

This year, and holiday season, has revealed the importance of making a personal contingency plan. Fears about coronavirus meant we have all had to create a ‘plan-b’ for how we celebrate and get together— if we’re able to at all.

We should take what we’ve learned in our personal lives and apply it to our professional ones. Business leaders should prepare a contingency plan for what collaboration and communication will look like among their workforce in 2021, whether in a remote or hybrid work environment.

For organizations who are still using Skype for Business, this means mapping the transition to Microsoft Teams now, before the July 31, 2021 retirement date.

Why should your company switch to Teams?

Teams' industry-leading capabilities over Skype for Business have positively impacted user productivity and organizational cohesiveness, even while employees work from home.

As we look toward the possibility of continued remote work or hybrid work, these and other Team’s features will continue to empower workforces and organizations:

  • Integration with other Office 365 apps.
  • Extensive chat capabilities including file sharing.
  • Online meeting options such as Team meetings, Live Events, live streaming, and conference calls for mobile, desktop, and Skype Room Systems.
  • Enterprise-grade security and compliance.
